happy thanksgiving prep and holiday

Happy Thanksgiving!
have fun slicing, mixing,
measuring, baking,etc
 or if you are lucky
just eating ....:0)
and of course helping to clean up!
May you have enough....
and a few leftovers
i.e.  Pie

Just received the new Feather your Nest pattern
from With thy Needle & Thread
http://www.countrystitchesonline.com/
beautiful pattern...you could frame it..it is like an art poster.

this wknd past I attempted a baby quilt
well precision is not my forte
so this will be a gifted as a "doll quilt" for the new baby girl to play
with as she grows up.....see it doesn't have to be precision then

the precision factor is what I least enjoy about quilting...
ah well....onward to the holidays.

as Fun to Give as it was to receive!

.....right back to you....
It was such fun to receive a give away (see last post)
so here is a holiday give away to you
it will be quick  (greater odds of winning)
I will draw the name Monday evening, that is 2 days from now.
That way the winner might receive >>>>>>>>>>CHOCOLATE<<<<<<<< before Thanksgiving, I will try to mail it on Tuesday,
also included is the pattern I just completed from Stacy Nash titled Winter Woolens.

I actually ordered the candy about 1 and 1/2 weeks ago
as I needed a bigger box....my old 1lb box is the keeper of non DMC type threads
but it is getting over stuffed
so a girl has to do what a girl has to do
I ordered a 2lb box
but as I was ordering I thought why not add an addtl 1lb box for gifting.....
Eureka!
the open box below is my 2lb box

The give away box is securely wrapped in the fridge.
I adore the stitching girl on the box cover.......

So just leave a comment on this post and your name will be in the drawing........
if you do not stitch, please say so as I would like the pattern to go to someone who will give it a happy and useful home........then if your name wins for the chocolate I can draw seperately for the pattern....makes sense to me.......all clear.....have a fun weekend....talk to you on Monday evening!
smiles

This past friday the 13th was my lucky day !

Thanks to Kathy @ http://woolfind.blogspot.com/, Rugs of mine ....in time..........
and her great blog giveaway... I arrived home to find this gift in the mailbox:
I had already experienced the "Miss America" excitement when I read I had won last week,
just giddy trying to hold my crown in place and wave at the crowds and dab at the mascara.

Then came the box filled with goodies ....I thought, man that pillow is bigger than I thought in this big box, but no
the box was filled with treasures
and just like mary poppins carpet bag, I kept reaching in and there was more :

2 lovely pieces of wool fabric , one plaid and the other russet shaded, hand dyed by Kathy.
love the signature tag on the Give Thanks pillow
oh yes there's more:

a beautiful wreath of fall berries....mmm hmmm fall berries.....
and this lovely votive candle holder with a non flammable candle...
nope thats not all.....
hang on to your threads folks:

28 ct linen, a nice lovely piece and these threads of harvest shades.
yes indeedy do....every Friday the 13th in the future will remind me of luck and sheer fun because of Kathy
and her kindness....what a great way to bring the childlike fun of the holidays here...
Thank you so very much.

I already have plans for Kathys wool with additional inspiration from these fantastic books that I received in the mail a couple of weeks ago....check them out if you get the chance...great stuff....I am esp. loving the wool applique designs in "cold wind" and "with these hands"

all right one more look at all this goodness and thanks from my heart to Kathy.....

I am grateful......corinna

good friends, walking, and stitching

This weekend was spent in San Antonio with our dear friends ..... she and I first met in 2cnd grade.......then our hubbys were post high school roomates.....crazy fun ever since.
We participated in the rock n roll 1/2 marathon
dh ran...the rest of us walked.....woke at 0430 am
We are smiling because our feet are still happy then!

34,000 participants
ran past the alamo...........

but I  still had time to stitch as sweet friend cooked in the kitchen like a mega hostess
while I asked if there was anything I could do to help btwn stitches:

santa still needs button
and finishing into something

Winter Woolens was a fun stitch, finished early last week:  another one that needs finishing.
Finished wash cloth #2 on Friday, LNS owner taught me to crochet around the edge.
The actual cloth is misshapen....but it was fun, (soap hides some flaws :0) .....)

I started knitting a scarf...more pics later....
Hope your week is good

batteries obtained

Well I have not posted
due to sheer procrastination on obtaining batteries for the camera,
but we are now in working order again.
(back up batteries too)
It requires lots of pics to get a non shaky one (I can really use up the energy)!
Frame 5x7 found for $5.86 at department store...

so that is complete and ready for christmas gifting

and knitting is progressing one useable washcloth in sink,
and washcloth #2 in progress....I know white....silly me
but I thought it would help to learn to knit with a solid.....live and learn

all righty, then a lovely surprise visit from DS and his girlfriend on Sat
they gifted me with these

and their lovely company!

This is what is currently in the hoop :

I plan to stitch the beard momentarily,
I am going to use wisper thread for the beard...we shall see how that transpires.
Then knitting class at 2pm at LNS...will also purchase a star button for Santa then, so he can be all jazzed up.
I am thinking I will try to knit a scarf next......wheeeeeee.

this is my first stitched item, I believe I was @ 8 years old.
My grandmother "Omi" lived in Germany, she mailed me a christmas gift of threads
and a stamped cloth as we had just been stationed back toTexas.
I was happy to have them, but recall thinking "I could go play",
esp when warmer weather came and my Mom said you really should get this done...
(spoken with her accent and well meaning direction)
so I did ...looks like completion and playtime were more important than neat stitches
but i still have and use this :

yikes...but i love it
smiles and cool weather happiness...........corinna
